Happy Easter!
It's Easter sunday todayy!
The weekend has been great! Let me update you; on friday the whole family went to a country place to eat dinner with the French guys. Their English is not great but they have gotten a lot better already! Everything is so strict here in the U.S. so we had to leave before 9 because we were under aged, kinda lame but it was boring there so it was perfectly fine for me. Dani and I went to a friend after that so I just spent the night at her house. But then Ryane came and visited me yesterday! All the way from South Dakota. She's a Brazilian friend that I meet in Hawaii :) It was soo nice to see her again, and she'll might come back and visit me again before she leaves USA. And if not, I'll meet her in Brazil for sure! Shelbi and I have great plans going on here :) We took her to the Cheesecake factory, a very nice restaurant where they of course have the best cheesecake in the world! Ry left this morning after breakfast, a little sad cause it's so fun to be around Brazilians and especially since she's an exchangestudent. American girls can sometimes be a little mean, they are certainly not like Norwegians (or Europeans for that matter of fact). But hey, only seven weeks left right? :)

I like it in the city when two world's collide
Hey there. I just cleaned the restroom, good job right? The french firefighter boys are coming tonight and are gonna spend the night here until tomorrow. It's nice having some new people around here.
I've gotten to know a really nice guy named Jonathan. We have been hanging out a bit and on thursday he took me to his hospital. He had cancer last year but is completely cancer free now. It was such a good experience for me to go, especially now that I have decided that I want to be a pediatrician. I meet so many nice nurses and doctors. When I saw the kids who suffered from cancer made me really think about how lucky I am, and how I should stop taking everything for granted, lesson learned Mell!
Well, the weekend has gone by quickly I must say. On friday I went to Joe's house cause he has a hottub! I've decided that I have to get rich so I can get myself one of those... Shelbi had some friends over here yesterday cause we had the house to our selves, but I was a partypooper and went to bed early :) Garry took me on a father-daughter breakfast this morning, we had a very good time as always! But before that I woke up by getting a text from Dani saying that I had to go outside and check my frontdoor. So I did that, and right outside was a letter and a big chocolate cake with the Norwegian flag on! The letter was long and written in perfect Norwegian. So now I am going to prom with Jonathan!! :) I wasn't really excited about prom before but now I am, so yea, I know we're gonna have a good time cause he is such a nice guy.
I don't have any pictures for you now but I'll post some later this week, I promise. I'm gonna go and curl my hair now, for once I don't have any homework! wohoooooooooooooooooo :)
I love you lovebugs,
Mariell.

Cookie is my favorite!
Cookie and I are sitting here in the couch watching the KU basketball game, everyone here watches it so I thought I whould give it a try. Basketball is really exciting but it's just that Cookie and I are having more fun taking pictures now, or at least I am haha. Im trying to think what I've done today...hmm..I went in early to school to make up a test, then after school I went home and talked to my mom and grandmother. Then, I showered and slept, and then I've been just watching TV with Lauren and Cookie. Shelbi is at her dad's this weekend so no shellbell time. ok ok, enough chitchat. It's time to waste some more time on TV, and pet my favorite girl (which is not a hastle, don't take me wrong)!

oh yea, she's tryin'

bingo...

Potential Bond girl?

My first shooting round! Not bad huh?
But yea, I went shooting on monday! It was a lot of fun!! Garry took us to the shooting range and he brought with him his guns. It dosen't look very painful on the TV screen and it looks like you can rescue anyone if youre just fast enough to run and push the person away from the bullet. Things are certainly not like how it is on TV! Dang, it goes so fast and its so loud.
Very focused
Garry teaching Gloria
I tried several guns and I especially liked a really big machine gun (kind of), it was completely black and when I looked through it to point where I wanted to shoot, it was a red dot there so it was easier to shoot and point the gun. Notice the good wheater also! It's been up to 80 this week (30 celsius), not bad at all.
I'll talk to you soon with more pics etc.
Lots of love,
Mariell.

Friday's highlight
Change of plans, springfield is next weekend so I'll be home until then. hm what did you say? good huh? yap :) agree! It's not very tempting to go but husj...don't tell anyone.

So I was supposed to go to the basketball game tonight with Joe and the other guys, but I canceled cause I was sooo tired. I've stayed up way too late this week so I've been sleeping in classes! yea I've been a slacker, I know. Springbreak is finally here so I can sleep in.
I got to take part of Lauren's and Keira's slumberparty tonight though, and they are so cute. I'll tell you, those girls are funny! They told me all about their boyfriends; Lauren has dated Jackson for three years now and she can't wait to take him on a date at Bravo's (the most expensive restaurant here in KC) cause when she does, they're a real couple. And Keira just recently got a boyfriend, Max, and they have been dating for three weeks now! You see, this is real serious stuff ;)
Cupcakes!
Mariella got the chance to help out with her nailpolish skills. In exchange I promised them to do my make-up, luckely they have forgotten about that haha. Lauren is the brilliant photographer here by the way.
focused? indeed.
Keira is one of the bravest girls I know, she's had a serious disease and she has gone through a lot of surgery's, but she's still bright as the sun! atta girl :)
Well tomorrow I have a hairappointment 8 in the morning, but that's good though cause then most of the day will be useful. But tonight I'm gonna watch paradise hotel online to catch up on the episodes that I've missed, I love to waste time on those kind of things... I'm probably gonna go shopping with Shelbi at the Plaza tomorrow as well, so I'm gonna take some pictures there. I feel like I really have to make an effort now and take pictures, cause after all, I'm going home in less than three months! And wow, when Helene reminded me on that here the other day I could really feel how excited I am to see you guys! But of course, I'ts gonna be so hard to leave my friends here and especially the family, but hey I don't want to worry about that now.
Have a great great weekend, and I'll update you soon again,
See you very soon and I love you mom,
Mariell.

Im ready to go right now
yep, so ready to go back to Hawaii. It was so depressing to come back to Kansas - no ocean or no beach. I meet 36 amazing students, which also made it really hard to leave. But gosh, I saw some fantastic things there, Pearl harbor was one of em. I went surfing and snorkling, hiked up Diamond Hill etc. The pictures will explain better. I miss it so much and I would give anything to go back.

Taken from the first day, this is where we snorkled
BEACH TIME!!!
Aurora, Line, Maria and me! All Norwegians haha
Later on the same day we took surfing lessons! I thought it would be really hard but I managed to stand up on the board a couple times
We hiked up Diamond Hill, and here's the amazing view!
we made it!
Iris, Maria, Henrik and I in the catamaran boat
One evening we went to eat dinner at waikiki beach and to watch the gorgeous sunset
Same night we watched the fireworks at the same beach. Iris, Aurora, Line, Me and Maria :)
Line, Aurora and I outside of the Dole Plantation
We went to see Pearl Harbor, which was really amazing
I bought a identical newspaper from the same day as the attack on Pearl Harbor. We were really lucky cause we got the chance to meet this man, Everett Hyland , who's a survivior from the attack. I also got my newspaper sign by him, really cool! :)
This is from the last night actually. We went to watch this Hawaiian "show" and to try the Hawaiian food. haha and here you see Henrik, me and Gabriel.
From the performance
You can obviously see that I had a great time, I didnt want to go back at all.
But hey, it's springbreak now from friday and all through next week, sweeet! And it's only less than three months until I see you guys again. I'm kidnapping my sister to go back with me to Oslo for a month, Im sooo excited gosh!!!
I'm leaving to go to Springfield (Missouri) on Saturday, and I'll be back on monday probably, so I'll update then.
Love you guys,
Mariell.
